Hi, I’m Sarah, the Founder of Book Interrupted; a book club for busy people to connect and one that celebrates life’s interruptions. My favourite hobby is reading books, but I never had the time to join a proper book club.

After reading the book Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés PhD, I really had an urge to talk to someone about the book. I proceeded to gift it to some of my friends and that got me thinking about how nice it would be to have a book club that you could fit into your schedule without expectations. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the life happening at the same time as reading the book was just as important as the books. The books are just the catalyst for connection and it’s the sharing of all the interruptions that also occurs that really connects people.

I proceeded to ask the people closest to me if they would like to be part of Book Interrupted and to my surprise they said yes!

I wanted to make sure that busy people like the contributing members would be able to fit it into their busy lives. First, our book cycle is 6 weeks instead of the standard 4 weeks. Second, no one in the club is required to finish the book. That’s okay! And lastly, I am very interested in all the interruptions that inevitably happen while reading the books. I want to know your real life, beyond the pages of the book.
