This week's Facts Friday Meredith shares a fact from the article More Then Half Your Body Is Not Human By James Gallagher, BBC


Less than half the cells in your body are human. The rest are microbes, collectively referred to as the microbiota. If that seems like a lot, consider that the microbiome has two to twenty million genes compared to the human genome’s 20,000 or so genes. In other words, more than 99% of a person’s total genes are not even human!
