On this weeks Manuscript Monday Lindsay recommends Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer.
I love non-fiction storytelling written in a journalistic style and this is one of my favourite. Jon Krakauer explores the life of Christopher McCandless, a young man from a well-off family who hitchhiked to Alaska in 1992 and walked alone into the wilderness after giving away his money, abandoning his car and most of his possessions. He was found four months later, dead. There’s something about Krakauer’s writing that draws me in, as he puts himself and his journey discovering the information into the story. There’s also something intriguing about leaving everything behind and going into the wild.
