Manuscript Monday: Little Red

On this weeks Manuscript Monday Kara recommends Little Red by Bethan Woolvin.

“Little Red” by Bethan Woollvin is a family favourite in my household. It’s a remake of the old classic “Little Red Riding Hood” in the best way as Little Red takes matters into her own hands and prevails. I adore this book because of the illustrations, which tell their own tale even without the author’s words. My husband likes the book because of the messages it reinforces for our daughters: trust your instincts and intuition, try to be brave even when you’re scared, and use your imaginative capabilities to get yourself out of a bind. But it’s my daughters who love this story the most because Little Red is wise, funny, and component —able to defend herself and save others— while still holding onto all aspects of wild childlike wonder and freedom. I recommend this book for all ages to enjoy!
