On this weeks Manuscript Monday Sarah recommends Seven Fallen Feathers: Racism, Death, and Hard Truths in a Northern City by Tanya Talaga.
This book was exceptional, challenging and necessary. It's the true account of 7 indigenous high school children found dead. The conditions that our colonial government have put indigenous people in is repulsive. I have some education concerning residential schools, the 60’s scoop, racism, suicide, inequality in education, healthcare and drinking water, but even then this book hit me hard. Hearing the stories from the community and families directly was heartbreaking as well as infuriating. I pray for the 8th prophecy and will continue to be an ally. A must read!
