Manuscript Monday: The Book of Eels

On this weeks Manuscript Monday Meredith recommends The Book of Eels by Patrik Svensson.

If you listened to Season 2 of the Book Interrupted podcast, then you’ll know that I am fond of nature books. This book was a gift from my 7 year old daughter. She was sure that I would love it, and she was right. This book is exactly what it claims to be: a book about eels. No surprise there. What is surprising is just how interesting eels are! Those slippery little suckers managed to baffle Aristotle, and countless inquiring minds since. Even Sigmund Freud himself (yes that Sigmund Freud) once dedicated part of his life trying to unravel the mysterious life of the eel. Svensson combines history, science, and memoir to create a compelling and interesting book about an often demonized and feared creature. Highly recommended for those that love to read about the wonders of nature.
