On this week's Manuscript Monday Meredith recommends What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat by Aubrey Gordon.

This book opened my eyes to the prevalent anti-fat bias in our society. Of course, I was aware it was there, but perhaps not how deeply entrenched. This book taught me a lot of things I didn’t know I didn’t know. For example, I didn’t know that it’s perfectly legal to discriminate against someone because of their weight in Canada.
This book is well written and covers a lot of ground. There is no fluff here. It made me better recognize the manifestation of unconscious bias, changed my perspective, and changed my thinking. This is a book for everyone, because while anti-fat bias affects some people more than others, it hurts us all.
This book was recommended to me back in Season 1 by our fan host Squiggy after I said something uninformed and rooted in anti-fat bias on the podcast. Thank you, Squiggy!
Aubrey Gordon is a fat activist and this book is a good primer for anyone who wants to learn more about anti-fat bias. She also hosts the podcast Maintenance Phase.
